Born in Birmingham but brought up on
the Gold Coast in Queensland, Pam Ford
(pictured) returned to this country in 1990.

For eight years she worked as a pub
landlady: 'That's where I learned the craft
of comedy, dealing with the male
customers.' Then in 1998 she took some
comedy workshops run by Michael
Knighton at the Studio in Beckenham.

Her stand-up act has a lot to say 'about having
teenage kids and trying to stay young with
it'.

Her comic tone is best characterised,
she says, by the references to her skirt as
'a fanny pelmet'.
